Louise M. Carey

About Louise

I am a teacher, a wife, a mother, and a grandmother with a passion for applying God’s Word in a memorable way to everyday life. Boise, Idaho is my hometown. I am a graduate of Biola College. One of the greatest honors and joys of my life is being married to Tim Carey, a Bible translator. Together we have served with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Guatemala since 1980. We have four grown children and ten grandchildren.

I am author of the book The Hedge People: How I Kept My Sanity and Sense of Humor as an Alzheimer’s Caregiver. Alzheimer’s caregiving is a job never aspired to and rarely trained for—a job taken on because of need, not desire. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in my life is that God’s will is not limited to things that we aspire to do for Him. Rather it is taking whatever job God places in our hands, whether large or small, and doing it for His glory. Caregiving was one of those jobs He placed in my hands.
